"First of all, I think it's a shame that this deviation only has 6 favorites because it's clear that a lot of work has gone into it. I don't know Cyle, but I do feel this deviation is worthy of more recognition because it's pretty darn awesome, lol. I think it would really appeal to all Plants vs. Zombies fans out there, and the people who appreciate good craftsmanship, too!" Plants Vs. Zombies Chess Set by ~Cyle

Description

This was one heck of a project....

Each piece of this set was individually handmade using polymer clay. They were then cemented to mirror disks and glazed for protection. The average height being about three inches tall. The board itself was made out of glass. The back was brushed with a transparent paint that made it look like stained glass. (I picked out colors to try and make it look like the grass in the game.) The total set took over a hundred hours to create.

ADDITION (9/10/11): Now that things have calmed down a little, (I've been very busy outside DA recently.) I wanted to take a moment and thank everyone who's commented on this piece. A special thank you to ~ridiculyss for suggesting it and to ^KubusRubus who thought it was worth the DD. I've never gotten a DD before. I honestly thought my account had been hacked into when I woke up in the morning to see 470 notices on my profile.

I also owe a special thanks to another DA artist, ~Selurnis. If it wasn't for her I probably never would have gotten into colored polymer clay in the first place. She taught me almost everything I knew at the time about polymer clay and everything I knew about making objects this small. If it wasn't for her this piece might not have even existed, much less come out as well as it did.

I didn't have room in my place to display it, so someone bought it from me shortly after it was finished. I don't know where it is, but if they happen to read this I'd be curious to know where it ended up. As long as someone is having fun playing with it, I consider the work well worth it. (I never was very good at chess.)

I know this is a very old post, but I am trying to get in contact with the original posted of this set... I have sent a private note. Thank you!
