Warrior Girl

Every now and then I need to pick up the pencil again. I've been doing a lot of work in polymer clay and wood recently, so I felt the need to get back to my roots. Pencil is where I started and where I've invested mos t of my training. Allowing those skills to diminish is something I never want to happen.

So, I busted out my travel sketch book and went to a local cafe. Since this was a small piece, I actually know about how much time I spent on it. (My larger graphite pieces take months from start to finish due to work and other projects, so it's almost impossible to tell how many hours I've put into them.) This piece is about four inches across and took me a little under seven hours. I finished it in two sessions with no reference. (Also very rare for me.) I must admit, I have a new found admiration for `Cataclysm-X's micro drawings. Getting the details on this resulted in a bit of eye strain and it's eight times the size of her pieces.
